Before your Revive Ride donation pickup, take 15 minutes to remove anything personal, valuable, billable, or security-related. Pull the garage-door remote, spare house keys, toll transponder, parking permits, disability placards, insurance card, registration, and glovebox papers. Sweep the seats, console, trunk, visors, and spare-tire area. Factory-reset the infotainment system, including Bluetooth pairings, HomeLink, saved addresses, and navigation history. Leave the keys and the signed-over title with the car.
Your pre-pickup checklist
Remove security items first
Start with anything that can open a door, gate, garage, or private area. Take the garage-door remote, gate fobs, access cards, spare house keys, mailbox keys, storage-unit keys, and workplace badges. Check the key ring too. If a remote is built into the visor or mirror, plan to wipe that setting during the electronics step instead of pulling parts from the car.
Stop billing items
Pull the toll transponder from the windshield or dashboard. Then log in to the toll account and remove the donated vehicle from that account, so future tolls do not bill to you. Also remove paid parking tags, garage decals, fleet fuel cards, car-wash stickers, and app-connected parking devices. If something is adhesive, remove the device and leave harmless residue alone.
Collect documents and permits
Open the glovebox and door pockets next. Remove the insurance card, registration, old inspection papers, repair receipts, loan papers, manuals with personal notes, and any document showing your address or account numbers. Take parking permits, neighborhood stickers, campus tags, and disability placards. The signed-over title is different; do not put it in your keep pile.
Sweep cabin and trunk
Work front to back. Check under the seats, between the cushions, seat-back pockets, visors, cupholders, center console, door bins, cargo pockets, and trunk. Lift the trunk mat and look in the spare-tire well. Remove phone chargers, sunglasses, cash, tools you want to keep, medication, documents, children’s items, and anything with personal information.
Wipe stored electronics data
With the keys available, factory-reset the infotainment system if the car powers on. Delete Bluetooth pairings, synced contacts, call history, navigation history, saved home and work addresses, Wi-Fi hotspots, garage codes, and HomeLink buttons. Check any separate navigation unit, dash screen, or rear entertainment system. If you cannot reset it, remove what you can and note the issue.
Remove extras, leave essentials
Remove aftermarket items only if they are yours and removal does not change the donated vehicle from what you described. This may include dash cams, phone mounts, upgraded stereo faceplates, child seats, removable cargo boxes, or specialty floor mats. Do not strip factory parts or leave the car incomplete. Leave the keys and the signed-over title with the car.

Common questions
Should I leave the keys in the car?
Yes. The keys need to stay with the vehicle for the handoff. If there are multiple keys, include the ignition key and any key fob needed to move or access the car. Do not leave house keys, storage keys, mailbox keys, or work badges on the same ring.
What if I already forgot something inside?
Contact Revive Ride as soon as you notice. If the vehicle has already left, recovery of personal property may not be possible. That is why the 15-minute sweep matters. Focus first on IDs, documents, payment devices, keys, phones, medicine, toll tags, and anything with your address.
Can I remove a dash cam or child seat?
Yes, if it belongs to you and removing it does not damage the vehicle or change what you reported. Take dash cams, child seats, removable GPS units, phone mounts, and personal accessories. Leave factory equipment and required vehicle parts in place unless you already disclosed otherwise.
